Day 3 Something I have to forgive myself for.

All of the times I get close to giving up. I'm the type of person who beats herself up over every little thing in a relationship, and I need to forgive myself for the times I 've thought "This is to hard, I can't do this." I feel like when I think this it transfers over into my relationship with him and he can feel that I think about this...weird I know. Even now thinking about it I feel bad. Has anyone else ever felt this way?

  1. MJ - You are both very young. You both have a lot of learning to do. You haven't gone off to college and discovered your passion yet, you haven't lived on your own or purchased your own car. These things are huge decisions and huge milestones in ones life. And they are necessary to experience for you.

I know you love him. I will never presume to tell you who to love and how strong that love is. But as someone a little older, and someone who wants you to be happy, I want to give you a little advice.

Explore the world. Get out of your parents house, out of McDonalds. Start going to college and getting a degree. Learn who you are. Then those relationship quarrels will get easier. Things won't be so hard. You'll be able to offer so much more to him. You'll be able to give him the best/most you can, because you worked hard to make yourself better first.

I hope you take this as constructive criticism, and not an insult. I think you are a smart girl with a great style. Just wanted to give you a little friendly advice. :)

  2. I second Mel's comment. As someone who met a guy who became a Marine young, I can say I am so glad we waited. I met my now husband when I was only 20 years old. I thought the sun rose and set with him. Then he left for the MC.

Fast forward to now. We spent some time apart (which is not right for everyone but was for us), I finished college, worked some great jobs, owned my own car, had fantastic roommates, and went on vacations with my friends and sister without my parents. I have now been married to my husband for almost 2 years and couldn't be happier.

I have several friends on base here who got married a couple of months after graduating high school. One in fact, who graduated early so she could get married at 17, which she did. I feel somewhat sorry for these ladies because they will never know what it's like to have their own apartment. They will never know what it's like to live in the dorms. They will never go on a carefree girls spring break trip.

I'm not saying the way my husband and I made our choices is the only "right way". But take it from me, I'm from K-town too, remember? There is a big world out there and you have yet to have the opportunity to experience it.

    Good luck with everything!!!
